As a Catholic community, St. Lawrence Martyr is dedicated to offering lifelong faith formation opportunities for its parishioners. We fully embrace the challenge of Vatican II to provide education and meaningful liturgy so that we can all become “full, conscious, and active participants” in fulfilling the mission and ministry of Jesus. Based on the USCCB's Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation, Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, our parish’s adult faith formation aligns with three main goals that guide our efforts:
To achieve these goals, we offer a variety of spiritual and educational programs accessible to adults, always connecting our shared baptismal call to our life experiences both in the Church and in the world. Christian faith formation offers adults opportunities to explore and reflect on their faith, enabling them to discover their path to God and shape their conscience following the teachings and example of Jesus. Adult Faith Formation combines real-life experiences, diverse learning needs, Scripture study, and the Church’s tradition to create an environment that nurtures intellectual, moral, and spiritual faith development.
The goal of adult faith development is to shape Christians into followers of Christ who are engaged in the world and committed to continuing Jesus's mission and ministry. Whether you have been a faithful Catholic, recently joined, or returned to your faith, or if you attended Catholic schools or religious education classes as a child, there is always more to learn about Catholicism. At St. Lawrence Martyr, we invite you to actively participate in our faith formation programs and opportunities. Come and see. Come and be nourished. Come, learn, and reflect with us on how we can become more effective disciples of Christ in both the church and the world.
Are you a practicing adult Catholic who has already received the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist but not the Sacrament of Confirmation? We would like to invite you to participate in our Confirmation preparation process, where you will learn more about your Catholic faith and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Church always welcomes new members into its community. The process for becoming Catholic occurs within the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or O.C.I.A. It is a journey of faith where people are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). The O.C.I.A. process is for unbaptized or baptized adults. It is an "apprenticeship" to the Christian way of life, where adults are formed by the Word of God, liturgy and prayer, community, and witness.
Through Christian Initiation, individuals are introduced to the life of the Catholic Church through catechesis (teaching the faith), liturgy (worship), scripture (reading the Bible), prayer and community development.
