"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time" - Thomas Merton

We invite you to explore the artist within you and learn to hear the Holy Spirit guiding you toward your creativity. Don't be shy! This is a ministry where the slogan "No experience necessary" holds true and is a socially supportive and safe space to explore, create, and grow. We will learn, laugh, and be joyful together through art. And if you just want to show up and paint rocks, this is the place for you! Rocks and paint will always be on hand.

      2nd and 4th Monday each month | 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon | Parish Hall - upstairs

    Paddle n Praise
    • Paddle N Praise

Paddle N Praise meets on the
2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month
from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Paddle N Praise (Pickleball) is actively happening at Saint Lawrence Martyr Church. Adults aged 18 and above (regardless of skill level) are welcome to participate in the fastest-growing sport in the nation. Join us for Fun, Faith, and Fellowship as we paddle n praise in the lower courts at SLM.

Paddle N Praise as a Unifying Force:

Paddle N Praise brings people together, fostering a sense of unity and shared experience. Pickleball at St. Lawrence is a way to build bridges and promote inclusion, regardless of skill level, age, race, or social class.

Paddle N Praise Supports Christian Values:

We are a Church Community that encourages all participants to embody Christian values, such as kindness, humility, honesty, generosity, self-control, forgiveness, loyalty, sacrifice, teamwork, and respect. Participating in Paddle N Praise promotes these values and contributes to building a more supportive Catholic Community. Playing pickleball with Paddle N Praise can be a means of sanctification. Sanctification means to be made holy or set apart for God's special use and purpose. Gathering in Fellowship, we hope that participants will be progressively transformed into the likeness of Christ, growing in holiness and becoming more separated from sin. This transformation is both a Divine work of the Holy Spirit and a human response of faith and obedience.

Paddle N Praise as a Metaphor for Life:

Pope Francis believes that sports offer valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of training, discipline, and motivation. He sees these elements as applicable not only to sports but also to everyday life. During Paddle N Praise, we encourage pickleballers to find meaning in their participation, regardless of numerical results, and to remain faithful to our Christian Values and Goals.

      Where Music Meets Community

The South Bay Strummers is a welcoming community of ukulele enthusiasts.  The group is open to everyone and free to join. No matter your experience level, you’ll find a welcoming space here to learn, play, and connect with fellow music lovers. Throughout the year, the Strummers perform at a variety of community events across the South Bay, including the Torrance Memorial Holiday Festival, local senior centers, assisted living homes, St. Lawrence's annual BBQ and Christmas Tree Lighting, and our beloved annual Sleepy Hollow performance in Torrance’s Christmas Lights neighborhood. Founder and director Clint Fisher has been leading the group since its inception in 2002, creating a warm, inclusive space where music, friendship, and fun come together.
