As we enter a sacred season of welcome and renewal, our parish prepares to receive new members into the Church. The journey begins with the Rite of Sending, celebrated at St. Lawrence Martyr on February 15 at the 9:00 am Mass.
During this rite, catechumens publicly sign the Book of the Elect, expressing their desire to follow Christ as disciples. This powerful moment of grace affirms God’s work in their lives and strengthens our parish’s commitment to support them through prayer and accompaniment.
The catechumens are then sent to the Cathedral for the Rite of Election, where Archbishop Gomez, on behalf of the Church, declares them among the Elect—chosen by God to prepare for the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. This pivotal rite marks the culmination of the catechumenate and the beginning of a more intense period of spiritual preparation, as both the catechumens and the Church renew their commitment to walk together toward new life in Christ.
