Join us for a Taizé Prayer Service inspired by Letter from a Birmingham Jail and the prophetic witness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. In a spirit of prayerful reflection, we will enter into an evening of chant, silence, Scripture, and meditative readings, allowing the Word of God to speak to our hearts.
Written in 1963 while imprisoned in Birmingham, Alabama for nonviolent protest against unjust segregation laws, Dr. King’s letter responds to local clergy and calls believers to reject complacency and act with moral courage. In that same spirit, we will listen for the Lord’s call to live as missionary disciples—formed in prayer, attentive in conscience, and sent forth in love. Rooted in the Church’s call to uphold human dignity and pursue the common good, this time of prayer invites us to be strengthened by grace and renewed in our commitment to witness with courage to justice, peace, and charity in our daily lives.
All are welcome to come, rest in God’s presence, and be sent forth with hope.
