“… she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne…” So, there is woman. Where is she? Heaven. There’s a heavenly woman. And she’s wearing a crown of twelve stars. A heavenly woman wearing a crown: princess or queen. Queen. Heavenly Queen. Who is brought forth as the male child? Davidic Messiah: Jesus. We have this heavenly Queen who gives birth to Jesus. And who is this woman? Mary. The child is Jesus. Mary is the mother of Jesus. The red dragon in this passage is satan. The characters in this passage are not just symbolic figures but are actual, historical personages. One cannot rule out this passage as referrring to the Blessed Mary. She is icon of the People of God, giving birth to Jesus in the way Christians live and have lived throughout the ages through the sacrament of rebirth: baptism.
