Every Sunday at the 9AM Mass, we dismiss children from the larger assembly to attend the Children’s Liturgy of the Word in the Chapel at the Pastoral Center. There the children listen to the readings from the Children’s Lectionary and pray in a way they can understand. Parishioners in the CLW minister to the present and future of our Church, dedicating time to passing on the faith to our children. CLW now operates year-round. We’re always looking for new ministers! This ministry would be ideal for couples. Singles are welcome, too! The rotation schedule could easily become once a month!
At SLM, we celebrate our children and families! A note to parents: Relax! God put the wiggles in children; don’t feel you need to suppress it in God’s house. We invite you to sit towards the front, where it is easier for children to see and hear. Re-member, your children learn liturgical behavior by imitating you, so please sing, pray, and voice the responses. If you need to leave Mass briefly with your child, feel free do to so but please come back! Remember, the way we welcome children at church directly affects the way they respond to Mass, Jesus, and the worshiping community. Please let them know they are at home here. A note to all parishioners: A smile of encouragement to parents of young, active children is always appreciated to let them know they are welcome here at SLM. Remember, they are the present and future of SLM and a reminder that our Church is growing!
