Our Work Must Flow From Prayer

Do you know that SLM's parish staff holds a weekly Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Midday Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office)? Every Tuesday at 1PM, bells can be heard in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the church, accompanying the Host in procession into the Pastoral Center. There on the altar chapel stands a monstrance to enthrone the Eucharist. Members of the Pastoral Staff, including clergy, gather to pray for the needs of the community and the world. We pray for God’s blessings in our ministry of service to SLM. During this time, all work stops not out of obligation, but out of conviction that our work must flow from prayer. Meetings pause, emails wait, and the busyness of the day gives way to stillness before the Lord truly present in the Eucharist.

In that quiet hour, we, the staff, are reminded that ministry is not simply about what we do, but about who we serve—and how we remain rooted in Christ. Midday Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours unites our voices with the prayer of the universal Church, while Eucharistic Adoration draws us into a deeper awareness of God’s presence among us.

This weekly Holy Hour is both a privilege and a responsibility: time to intercede for our parishioners, to seek guidance in our service, and to be renewed in faith. Please know that you and your intentions are always part of this sacred time of prayer.
