Volunteer or Minister?

In the Gospels, Jesus did not go out to look for volunteers. He sought disciples. It’s the same way today. Jesus asks us to missionary discipleship not to recruited volunteerism. The command to "go and make disciples of all nations" is known as the “Great Commission,” found in Matthew 28:19-20. This directive emphasizes that we, who are followers of Jesus at SLM, are called to share our faith, baptize believers, and teach them to observe all that Jesus commanded. The mission of the Church centers around this task, highlighting the importance of spreading the Christian faith globally. In our case, we begin in our homes, at SLM. What follows is my observation of the terms volunteer and minister. This observation is not meant to describe specific persons or a group of people at SLM. This observation is just to differentiate the meaning behind the terms. A volunteer is a person who works for an organization without being paid. A minister is a disciple of Jesus responding to His call to participate in the work of God. Minister is the Latin term for servant or attendant.
